Looking at 2024 and beyond for Aura

Co-Founder, COO at Aura

It feels like we launched Aura just a few months ago. In fact, we're coming up on our 8-year anniversary as a company.

For those who don't know, we're a bootstrapped software company helping Amazon sellers scale their revenue with analytics and repricing—powered by AI.

We rebuilt Aura from the ground up, rewriting every line of code, and added new features like Maven (our AI) and Hyperdrive. We've also introduced more advanced subscription plans for larger sellers.

Everything we've worked on over the past few months has been designed to create a better foundation for us as a company and for our users. Read below for the latest changes.

Our Origin Story

James and I met through a cold DM on Instagram. We began talking once a week to hold each other accountable and help solve problems. We realized we had been hacking similar processes using tools like Google Sheets and Trello. That's when James mentioned he was a software engineer.

Our first tool was Vendrive CRM. We learned a lot from the failures of that product but realized we had a passion for building software. We took our lessons and pivoted to working on something far more impactful.

We launched Aura in December 2018 between college semesters. That's when everything changed as we began growing rapidly.

After seeing the initial traction and impact we created, we knew there was nothing else we wanted to work on. We doubled down on Aura and began building not only the product, but the team with it. We developed a passion and drive for impacting the users we served.

Aura Today

Aura today is very different from when we launched in 2018. We've helped tens of thousands of sellers, rebuilt the platform from the ground up, and added features like Maven and Hyperdrive.

Our team has grown from just two people to six, with more hiring coming soon.

Our goal is to scale our impact. To create a company that people love to work at and where users are obsessed with what we're building. We're not just looking to boost revenue and exit—we're here to build.

Updated Packaging and Pricing

We've received incredible feedback from users regarding our latest pricing updates. Based on that feedback, we went back to the drawing board to find what works best for our users.

We identified two major issues:

  • The jump from Essential ($97/m) to Pro ($497/m) was too big.
  • Users wanted access to AI no matter what.

So, we fixed those issues.

Here are the major changes:

  • All plans now include access to AI (Maven).
  • The Pro plan is reduced from $497/m to $397/m.
  • We're adding a new Plus plan at $197/m.
  • We're no longer limiting plans to the number of listings.
  • We've increased how many marketplaces can be added.
  • We've increased how many Hyperdrive credits can be used.

Looking Ahead

We're leaning heavily on user feedback to make our product and packaging/pricing even better. This is something we'll never stop doing.

We see a world of abundance in ecommerce moving forward. There's an incredible amount of data at our disposal that's not being taken advantage of. There's also a massive opportunity to apply AI to solve complex problems, and we want to be at the forefront of this.
